The focus of individual therapy

Individual therapy for youth and adults in Texas looking to build confidence and communication skills. The techniques used will improve emotional regulation, manage anxiety, increase healthy relationships, and strengthen identity.

Healthy relationships can be hard to find and maintain. Maybe you grew up in a household with yelling, criticism, and passive aggression, so you are afraid of advocating for your needs. Maybe you’ve had friends or partners break your trust, and now you’ve built walls to protect yourself. Maybe you are afraid of losing people, so you placate others. It is challenging to break habits, but through practice and confidence, you can get there.

We’ve all heard the phrase actions speak louder than words. Our focus will be on talking through what has led you to this point and taking action to achieve change. Each week, we will practice a new concept, and your homework will be to implement that concept.

Learn effective ways to cope with emotions. Deepen insight into the reasons you feel and think the way you do. Reframe and challenge thoughts to break negative patterns.

❋ Distress Tolerance

Obstacles are a part of life. Be able to cope and process obstacles that arise in your life.

❋ Mindfulness

Practice mindfulness techniques such as grounding, visualizations, and thought defusion to reduce anxiety and regulate emotions.

❋ Interpersonal Effectiveness

Understand healthy communication techniques and practice implementing them.
